The Invisalign® system provides a convenient, hassle-free approach to teeth straightening.
Here, we’ll answer some of the most common questions about Invisalign clear braces.
Invisalign Q & A
How often are Invisalign checkups?
We typically want to see our Invisalign patients about once every six weeks to monitor your progress. In between visits, you will switch out your removable aligner trays every two weeks.
How does the Invisalign system work?
When you come in for your first visit, we will create molds of your upper and lower teeth. We send these molds to the Invisalign lab, where they scan them and create a 3D digital file that shows both arches of your teeth.
Using that file, technicians calculate the amount of movement and degrees of rotation that are required to achieve your desired smile. This calculation then determines how many sets of Invisalign aligners you will need. When the plan is created, you and your doctor review it to make sure it will work for you, or make adjustments as needed.
How long will it take to straighten my teeth with Invisalign?
Length of treatment depends on the severity of the crowding or misalignment we’re trying to fix, but most patients wear Invisalign trays for 1-2 years. The length of treatment also can be affected by your own self-discipline and willingness to wear the aligner trays for the recommended 22 hours per day.
